What is your favorite benefit of running? This answer will differ between runners, simply because there are so many great running benefits. From general stress relief, to weight loss, to preventing bone loss, the reasons are truly extraordinary.
As with all exercise, you may not always have the motivation to run, and get your daily exercise. But if you keep the benefits in perspective, you will soon realize that the benefits are reason enough to get out and exercise. Whenever you may be having doubts, review this list and remember why we love running so much!
Stress comes in many forms. Whether it is caused by work or a relationship, get out and run. You will keep better immediately.
There is something about being outside, and alone with my thoughts that really allows me to think through anything that’s bothering me, and I always feel less stressed afterwards. Better yet, if you are feeling overly stressed, take out your aggression by running sprints.

Running is ranked as one of the best activities to burn fat. As a matter of fact, you will burn more calories per minute by running than most other sports. No matter your weight loss goal, running is the perfect place to start.

By engaging in your running program, you will toughen you legs and core by being active. Unfortunately, oftentimes our jobs include a sedentary lifestyle. We therefore lose bone density by not stressing the muscles. By incorporating a regular run into your routine, you can fight off weaker bones, and maintain a healthy skeletal system.

Looking for the answer to your heart health questions? Running is your best answer. Not only does it reduce the risk of blood clots, it also raises HDL cholesterol levels. It also improves your arteries’ elasticity because they are constantly expanding and contracting during your run, almost 3 times more than usual.

If you incorporate a running training program into your life, you will naturally produce more of those disease fighting white blood cells. Your lungs will naturally get stronger due to your regular exercising.

Once you experience a runners high, you will be wondering why you never engaged in running in the past. No matter how you are feeling, running highs will turn a bad day good, or a good day great. The best advice is to run outside. You will encounter surfaces that are uneven. These naturally strengthen your ankle and leg muscles. If you find yourself tripping often, your history of running over these uneven surfaces will make ensure you hold your own. Your mind and body will know these obstacles.
9) Build Your Confidence
No matter how you view athletes, if you decide to get outdoors and run, you are an athlete. Every time I begin training for a new race, I’m amazed at how quickly I see a difference in my body’s strength and endurance.
Take on these challenges and prove to yourself that you can do it. Your self belief is a key cornerstone for long term exercise and health. Plus, you will start to see improvements in your body health and weight. These changes will only make you want to run more.
Once you finish your first race, you will want to do another. Set your next goal and get addicted to the running challenges.
10) You Are An Athlete
Running allows you to train on so many different surfaces, in different conditions, in so many different locations. Whether you started running at an early age or later in life, running can fill that exercise void in your life. If you want to be in charge of your own health, take up running. Your will not need to rely on anyone but yourself.
With running, you don’t need a gym membership, or expensive equipment. No matter where you live, make running a part of your workout routine. You will be amazed at how you feel. No matter how you define what an athlete is, if you get out there and run, you will be the epitome of a great athlete.
